neighbourhood
This apartment is located on rue de l\'Ermitage in the 20th arr close to the famous Parc des Buttes Chaumont which is the largest park of the northeastern part of Paris - agreeable for a relaxing stroll. It was built at the wish of Napoleon III, who wanted to provide the working classes with a green area. It was laid out under the orders of Alphand (great organiser of Parisian promenades during the Second Empire), by engineers Darcel Belgrand, architect Davioud and landscape designer Barillet-Deschamps, on the bare heights \"monts chauves\" (bald mounts) hence the name \"Chaumont\". Inaugurated during the World Fair of 1867, the Buttes-Chaumont is one of the finest Haussmanian parks in Paris. There is the Menilmontant area and rue Oberkampf, with many diverse restaurants, nightclubs and trendy bars having been set up over the past few years. The Bassin de la Villette is close by. Many shops and stores in this very lively and multi-culture atmosphere. Bakery, Butchery, Supermarket, Open air market, Theater, Restaurant, Cafe, Drugstores.
